From the first morning’s buzz to the final conversations over coffee, it was clear: our industry is picking up pace and collaboration is at the heart of that progress.
What stood out most to me were the like-minded discussions with people who are truly reimagining how we design, develop and manage spaces. Whether in spontaneous hallway chats, scheduled meetings, or after-panel catchups, I was reminded how valuable it is to exchange ideas with those tackling similar challenges from different perspectives.
The panel sessions this year were particularly thought-provoking - especially those focused on AI in property management, decarbonisation strategies and the future of mixed-use developments. There was a strong sense that the boundaries between tech, sustainability and human experience are blurring - and that’s exactly where the most exciting opportunities lie.
A few key themes consistently surfaced across conversations and sessions:
- Sustainability and ESG-driven design - not as a buzzword, but as a baseline expectation.
- Smart buildings and digital twins - turning data into meaningful insight and efficiency.
- AI and automation - accelerating workflows, enhancing analysis, and unlocking creativity.
- Flexible living and adaptive spaces - reflecting how people’s lifestyles and needs continue to change.
- Collaboration and innovation - because progress happens faster when we share knowledge.
It was also great to see how digitalisation and robotics are no longer “future concepts” - they’re here, reshaping how we plan, build and operate in real time.
A massive thank-you to everyone who took the time to meet, talk and share their experiences. These conversations are what make events like EXPO REAL so valuable - a reminder that innovation thrives when curiosity and connection meet.
Until next year, Munich.
